Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

Click HERE to set up your Multifactor Authentication (MFA) sign-in methods

Activation of MFA on your SUNY Oneonta account means that when you sign in with your password, you are also required to respond from a registered device. This makes it harder for a hacker to sign in with just a stolen password.  There are several options to choose from when setting up your additional methods of authentication. You have the option to set up all of them to accommodate your needs at different physical locations.  You will have to choose your preferred (default) method during setup, however this can be changed at any time.

Methods to sign-in include:

  1.  Microsoft Authenticator App (this option can be set up on multiple devices)
  2.  Phone
  3.  Alternate Phone
  4.  Office Phone

To set up the Authenticator App

  • Open https://aka.ms/mfasetup
  • Setting up the Authenticator app option is recommended, but not required.
    • *If you are traveling internationally, this option is useful when texting becomes unreliable, and should be set up as the default option.
